No Wires Required for Internet Phone Services

People who have Internet phone services can take advantage of how they don’t need wires to get their connections set up. People can use an online connection and a phone line with devices that don’t require any wires connected to any spots.

Simple Devices are Used

This is all thanks to the unique items that will be provided in a service. A router and modem can be used to prepare signals to and from a property. This will be linked up to a spot in the house where a phone wire and other connections can be supported. The items will move into this spot and will create a series of signals that can be read by a series of devices all around the house. This means that the items in a home will not have to be hooked up to a single spot.

How the Phones are Managed

Phones can be managed by having them use internal antenna materials that will link up to the modem and router in a house. They will receive the online phone signals and will manage calls in all spots around a house. However, it is best to have a phone stored in a plugged-in power outlet so it can charge up when it is not in use.

How the Computer Gets Signals

People can also get Internet phone services to work without wires. A simple modem will be used inside a computer. This can feature a small antenna that will come from the back of the computer. This will read the signals created by the modem in the home. Therefore, a phone jack will not be required when getting the computer to link up online.

This is one of the top benefits to find when getting internet, internet and phone services ready. This should make it easier for anyone to handle phone and online devices in any spot of the home.

Comparing Satellite Internet Speeds in Varying Forms

The speeds that people can get out of a satellite Internet connection can be huge. Many people can get satellite Internet speeds of at least 1 Mbps for downloads and 200 Kbps for uploads. However, there are some ways how these speeds can vary.

What Package Do You Have?

The package for satellite Internet service can influence what a customer gets. Some people may qualify for packages that can handle 1 Mbps download speeds. Others can get packages with 5 Mbps download speeds but will have to pay more for the advanced equipment and subscription service.

Where Do You Live?

The location of a home may also be a point. Some metropolitan spots are more likely to get the fastest speeds than other spots. This is often due to the lack of coverage that some of the most powerful satellite transponders can handle.

What’s the Peak Time?

The peak time for satellite Internet speeds can vary by each provider. This is because a satellite Internet company might handle reduced speeds due to more people being online at a given time. For example, a person might get 2 Mbps for downloads during normal hours but 1 Mbps during peak hours. This is still a fast speed but this should be considered.

It’s Still Quick

A good thing to say about these speeds is that they are faster than what most connections use. These include speeds like 55 Kbps for dial-up connections or 400 Kbps for some of the oldest broadband or DSL connections around.

All satellite internet speeds will vary by each person. They can be fast but people may have to pay more or move to certain spots to get the best speeds. They may also have to be online at the right times.

What Features Should PC Monitors for Gaming Have?

A nice computer monitor can make any game look beautiful. Here are some of the best things to get on PC monitors for gaming.

An LED Field is Needed

An LED field is the first thing to find in PC monitors for gaming. This uses a series of small diodes that produce light and will work without any backlit items. This is used to create a bright image that will not produce any glare and will not be an issue from any angle that the screen is being viewed at. This also works with a better contrast ratio.

It may also last a little longer because an LED field doesn’t use as much energy as another field. This may help to save on one’s electric costs when using the monitor.

A Nice Ratio

The ratio on the monitor should also be seen. Many of today’s games are made to support 16:9 widescreen ratio formats. This is used to create a nice look that will be supportive of all kinds of games.

A 4:3 ratio could also be used for the monitor. However, the appearance may not be as attractive on a 4:3 ratio.

A Good Response Time

The response time must also be strong for a gaming monitor. This refers to how much time it takes for a monitor to change its image. A good monitor will have a response time of around two or three milliseconds. This is to keep any lag issues from occurring and to see that the items on the screen are as accurate as possible. After all, a lag can be a serious issue in any game.

These points for PC monitors for gaming should be used carefully. They will relate to how well a game can show off its graphics and how well it will look.

Unlimited Wireless Internet Providers Can Offer Support in Many Spots

There are several unlimited wireless Internet providers that can offer different services. However, it helps to see if the provider one wants can work with services in more spots. People can use the best unlimited wireless connections in a variety of spots outside of the home. These include spots like:

Restaurants
Offices
Hotels
Airports
Some vehicles
Other places that can handle signals

What Makes This Possible?

Providers can work with specific signals to make it easier for computers to link to a wireless Internet line. In most cases a Wi-Fi signal can be good enough. An 802.11 link can be used to bring any device that has Wi-Fi support the online signals that it needs so it can work out right. This is a great advantage that can make a service like this stand out from others.

3G and 4G signals that use more advanced technology and offer faster signals can work too. They are often more expensive though. They may not be available in all spots either.

What About Equipment?

The equipment that is used here should be easy to manage. This includes something like a small adapter inside a laptop or a phone. This should be easy to handle and remove as needed. There should not be too much of a need to adjust the adapter based on what one has either.

The best unlimited wireless satellite internet providers can offer a great deal of support for all kinds of items. This support should be easy to manage without worrying about things being too complicated. It can also work in more spots and with a variety of different signals based on the need a person has.

Julian Assange to guest star on “The Simpsons”

(Reuters) – Controversial WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange will be a guest character and voice on animated TV comedy “The Simpsons,” playing a neighbor of the family after they move from their home in fictional Springfield.

Assange’s “brief” guest starring role will be on the show’s February 19 program, which marks the 500th episode of “The Simpsons,” said Antonia Coffman, a spokeswoman for the show airing on the Fox television network in the United States.

In the episode, the Simpsons — Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie and their pets — leave home and move to a rugged and isolated area where the find themselves living next to Assange, who portrays himself.

Simpsons executive producer Al Jean told Entertainment Weekly magazine that the show’s creative team realizes Assange is “controversial,” but that in putting together the show they avoided delving into his “legal situation.” Instead, the writers made sure the appearance was satirical. Assange recorded his lines remotely from Britain.

Assange is currently under house arrest outside London and due to appear before Britain’s Supreme Court on Wednesday to appeal his extradition to Sweden where he has been accused of sexual misconduct by two former WikiLeaks volunteers.

He angered U.S. officials in 2010 when WikiLeaks, in partnership with major newspapers, published a trove of leaked diplomatic cables that exposed the candid views of American officials and their allies about a wide range of topics including the wars in Afghanistan and, at the time, Iraq.

Assange and his supporters are concerned that if he is extradited to Sweden, U.S. officials might attempt to have him brought to the United States where possibly he could be charged for crimes related to the leaked documents.

Last week, Kremlin-funded English language channel Russia Today revealed it had given Assange his own television talk show. Assange will interview noteworthy figures on a show dubbed “The World Tomorrow,” the channel said.

“The Simpsons,” which debuted in 1989 on Fox, is the longest running primetime, scripted television series.

Personal Finance: Bank Transfer Day saw 600,000 switch

(Reuters) – More than 600,000 U.S. consumers have moved their money from big banks to community banks or credit unions, thanks to the much-publicized Bank Transfer Day last fall, according to an analysis released by Javelin Strategy & Research.

The grassroots campaign to get people to shift out of big banks capitalized on the nationwide Occupy Wall Street movement, and picked up further momentum from a Bank of America plan in September to charge customers a $5 per month debit card fee. After the bank dropped this plan ahead of Bank Transfer Day on November 5, an exit from big banks continued, sparked by Bank Transfer Day’s Facebook campaign. (More than 60,000 have “liked” the page.)

“It was a meaningful movement of people from big banks into small community banks and credit unions, but it wasn’t a huge number by any stretch,” said Jim Van Dyke, founder of Javelin, a research and consulting company which on Thursday released a data-based analysis of the impact of the movement.

Nevertheless, he said, “It was quite a feat. I don’t think we’ll see it repeated any time soon.”

Historically, people don’t switch banks easily, even if they are unhappy, Van Dyke says. Consumers have strong ties to their banks because of direct deposit, automated bill payments and habit — making change more complex than simply going someplace else.

“Individuals are really resistant to moving their money out of banks,” Van Dyke says, noting that Javelin has tracked customer behavior at banks through a large sample survey since 2003. “The difference between what they say and what they do is really different.”

American Bankers Association spokeswoman Carol Kaplan says the numbers of those fleeing big banks should be kept in perspective.

“While these 600,000 adults represent an exceedingly tiny fragment of the hundreds of millions of Americans with bank accounts, the industry takes consumer sentiment seriously… Consumers have a wealth of choice and banks have always been in favor of competition, regardless of where it comes from,” she says.

An additional 200,000 people claimed they had moved their accounts due to the campaign against big banks, but did not take their money out of one of the top 10 institutions, Van Dyke says.

Bank of America did not bear the brunt of the account closings, Van Dyke says — its losses attributed to the Bank Transfer campaign were statistically similar to losses at the other large banks.

“We didn’t see any individual bank punished out of this more than the rest,” he says.

Bank of America spokeswoman Betty Riess wouldn’t comment on Javelin’s findings or the impact of Bank Transfer Day. However, CEO Brian T. Moynihan had said in a recent conference call with analysts that the bank did take a hit.

Moynihan said on the call that the bank had a 20 percent increase in account closings in the fourth quarter of 2011 compared to the same quarter in 2010. “So I’d say that yes, we had some impact from the $5 debit fee. That’s why we made a decision to reverse it,” he said, according to transcripts of the conference call published on the internet.

That statement shows that the bank understands that consumers’ voices count, says Ed Mierzwinski, consumer program director for U.S. PIRG, which advocates for consumers on a variety of issues including banking.

“Bank of America got the message and did take a hit,” he says, noting Moynihan’s comments. “Bank of America and other big banks now know that unfair practices will and do result in consumers voting with their feet.”

Overall, about 5.6 million people moved their bank accounts in the last quarter of 2011, Javelin says. Account changes attributed to Bank Transfer Day represented about 11 percent of total moves. About a quarter of the overall group that moved accounts cited fees that banks charge. Fees, including Bank of America’s proposed monthly debit card fee, were at the core of the push to move consumers’ cash to nonprofit credit unions, which tend to have lower and fewer charges for routine banking.

The trade group Credit Union National Association estimates that between the time Bank of America announced the plan to charge a debit-use fee and the week following Bank Transfer Day, some 700,000 people moved their accounts to credit unions.

Technology plays a big role when consumers switch banks, Van Dyke says. Younger adults place greater value on having robust online banking tools — something not as commonly available at smaller banks and credit unions.

“It turned out that technology and individuals’ inertia really won the day in favor of the large banks,” Van Dyke says. “If this continues, these small institutions will go the way of the Oldsmobile.” (The author is a Reuters contributor. The opinions expressed are his own.)

Former Groupon sales reps countersue over tactics

(Reuters) – Former Groupon Inc sales representatives sued by that company after leaving for Google Inc have filed a countersuit, claiming their former employer is pursuing “sham” litigation to keep them from joining rivals.

Groupon, which runs the world’s largest online coupon website, had accused Nikki Dorough, Brian Hanna and Michael Nolan of taking confidential trade secrets when they moved to the world’s largest Internet search company. Google launched its own daily deals business early last year.

The workers maintained that Groupon, by filing its complaint on October 21, was trying to illegally stifle competition and bully workers, as it prepared to “cash in” through its upcoming, eagerly awaited initial public offering.

“In its stop-at-nothing strategy to take itself public and further enrich its founders, Groupon has crossed the line,” the workers said. “The message is clear: don’t leave Groupon and if you do, don’t attempt to use any of the skills and experience you may have developed while working for us.”

The workers said they are in their mid-20s and decided independently of each other to join Google in the fall. Their countersuit was filed on Wednesday in the Cook County Circuit Court in Illinois, where Groupon had originally sued.

Julie Mossler, a Groupon spokeswoman, said: “We believe these counterclaims have no merit and we remain confident of our case.”

Groupon went public in the first week of November in an offering that valued the Chicago-based company at $12.8 billion.

It was the largest IPO for a U.S. Internet company since Google went public in 2004 and followed Groupon’s having spurned in 2010 a roughly $6 billion takeover by that company.

According to Groupon, the workers violated a clause in their employment agreements that barred them from working for a direct competitor for two years after leaving.

The workers believe that clause is unenforceable and unnecessary as none had access to confidential, sensitive or proprietary information.

They also contended that Groupon is using them as a “prop,” having served a subpoena to Google not simply for information to help its case, but also to “obtain intelligence on a burgeoning competitor” in an effort to preserve market share.

“These are young people who are industrious, entrepreneurial and trying to earn a living, and Groupon is trying to prevent them from doing that,” Steven Molo, a lawyer for the workers, said in a telephone interview. “The law does not allow it.”

Dorough, Hanna and Nolan seek compensatory damages for interference with their current work, plus punitive damages. They also want their non-compete clauses to be voided.

According to industry tracker Yipit, Google’s daily deals business, Google Offers, had $3.5 million of gross billings in November, while Groupon had $154 million.

Sierra Lovelace, a Google Offers spokeswoman, declined to comment on the lawsuit, noting that Google is not named as a defendant. Google is based in Mountain View, California.

Groupon shares closed up 2.6 percent on Friday, rising 51 cents to $20.04 on the Nasdaq. The company went public at $20 per share.

The case is Groupon Inc v. Hanna et al, Cook County Circuit Court, No. 11CH36731.

Which Money-making surveys can you trust?

If you spend much time on the internet, you might have seen advertisements for paid surveys online and wondered what paid surveys online are. Essentially, there are a lot of companies out there that do research to help their marketing departments know what audiences to target. Many companies have paid surveys that ask questions about their products – if you use them, how often, where you buy them, etc. There are surveys for makeup products, brands of baby food, types of clothes that you wear, or even where or when you do your shopping.
Most online paid surveys don’t have a lot of requirements or restrictions – usually just an age limit (at least 18 years old), and sometimes they require you to live in a certain area. Online paid surveys often ask for some personal contact information, such as your name, age, sex, email address, zip code, etc. Just because a survey asks you for some personal information does not mean that they’re not legitimate surveys. They use that information to understand who is using their products so that they can focus their marketing strategies, and where they might want to expand their product lines. However, if they are asking you for information such as your full address or your social security number, you should be careful.
While paid online surveys aren’t going to pay you enough that you can just take money surveys as a full time job, you can make some easy extra cash in your spare time. Most opinion surveys are short and only take between five and ten minutes to complete. This means you can take more online paid surveys, but shorter surveys also pay less. If you don’t mind taking longer paid surveys, those are available as well. Typical pay for online paid surveys can vary dramatically, but usually falls between $1 and $15 per survey.

Clashes erupt in Cairo during anti-army protest

(Reuters) – Hundreds of Egyptian protesters demanding an immediate end to military rule clashed on Sunday with rivals in civilian clothes outside central Cairo’s state media building, the same place where 25 people were killed in a demonstration in October.

“Down with military rule,” protesters chanted. The sound of gunshots rang through the air but it was unclear who was firing.

“Tell me council, who chose you? It’s Mubarak’s gang that appointed you,” the crowd chanted, referring to the army council which has ruled Egypt since President Hosni Mubarak was ousted on February 11.

Dozens of protesters clashed with a group of people protesters described as “thugs” brought out to attack them, hurling stones at each other. There was no sign of police or troops intervening or securing the media building.

“We were protesting here peacefully, and all of a sudden a group of around 50 thugs came from side streets surrounding the building and attacked us with stones and glass bottles, and we responded by throwing stones back at them. They tore down our tents,” said Mohamed Abdo, 45, an elevator worker.

State radio said residents in a poor area next to Maspero, the site of the demonstration, had challenged the protesters because they were disrupting shops and businesses in the area.

Protesters often say such “thugs,” usually youths in plain clothes and sometimes members of the police force, have been hired by the authorities to disrupt demonstrations.

The October violence at Maspero in which 25 people died erupted when troops tried to break up a protest sparked by what Christians said was an attack on a church in southern Egypt.

Egyptians have become increasingly frustrated by military rule, though many still see the army as a vital force for stability after months of political turmoil.

“The country cannot continue like this. Things are getting worse. They have to transfer power now. The country cannot stay like this any longer,” said Waleed Kamal, 25.

He was not among the protesters, but lives nearby. “If we get civilian rule, the country will get back on its feet, the economic wheel will turn,” he added.

Egyptians on January 25 marked the first anniversary of mass demonstrations against Mubarak in Tahrir Square, near the Maspero site of Sunday’s protest.

Saving Money While Shopping Online

If you follow printable coupons websites, you’ve probably seen a great deal or two that will save you serious money. Ranging from printable grocery coupons to restaurant coupons to coupon codes you use while shopping online, it can seem like great deals are everywhere. You have to be smart to save, though. Here are some tips to making the most out of printable coupons.

  1. Know the prices of the items you’re shopping for. If you think you’re saving a lot of money but are actually only paying normal retail price, you’re wasting your time and effort.
  2. Sign up for email newsletters from companies you frequently shop at. Following a business’s Facebook page is another good way to keep up to date on specials. You might even be able to find local coupons to save money around town!
  3. Try to identify hidden costs. This means figuring out the actual price for an item you may not need. For example, if you are saving $2 on a large pizza but have to have it delivered, you’re going to pay the extra money back to the delivery boy as a tip, anyway. There aren’t any real savings.
  4. Shop at stores that will match the prices on printable coupons for other stores. Many retailers will do this to get you to spend your money at their store instead of a competitor’s.
  5. If you can compound your savings by combining coupons, do that. You may find yourself being able to practice a few “extreme couponing” tactics if you do so.

By knowing a few simply tricks and tactics, you can find that printable coupons (including online printable retail coupons, restaurant coupons, and grocery coupons) will help you save money and get a better deal while shopping.

Thousands greet veterans at St. Louis parade

(Reuters) – Thousands of people lined the streets of downtown St. Louis on Saturday cheering on marchers in a parade honoring veterans of America’s wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the nation’s first major welcome to soldiers since the end of the Iraq War.

Crowds of parade-goers stretched a mile through the center of the city on a crisp winter’s day, many waving American flags, with the metallic Gateway Arch glistening in the background in an event reminiscent of parades following World War One and World War Two.

“I’m just loving it,” said Staff Sergeant Chris Green, 35, who volunteered for the Missouri National Guard two months after the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington and was part of the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.

“When I heard this was happening I was choked up to say the least,” Green said. “With the president cutting back (on the military), for Missouri to pull this together despite everything is just outstanding, absolutely outstanding.”

While the invasion of Iraq quickly toppled Saddam Hussein, the country descended into sectarian violence and an occupation that dragged on for nearly nine years before the last U.S. forces pulled out in December.

For President Barack Obama, the military pullout fulfilled an election promise to bring troops home from a conflict he inherited from his predecessor that evolved into the most unpopular U.S. war since Vietnam.

There have been no major pomp-and-circumstance homecoming events for the returning veterans save for scattered small events since the last U.S. troops left Iraq, including a speech by Obama at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, thanking veterans for their service.

Some have been hesitant to hold parades while troops remain in Afghanistan.

OUTPOURING OF VOLUNTEERS

Saturday’s parade was organized through social media by a coalition of veteran groups, private citizens and local officials.

“We got an outpouring of volunteers who wanted to do something for all the vets,” organizer Chris Kuban said.

St. Louis police did not provide a crowd estimate, but the streets appeared crowded with thousands of marchers and spectators.

Thousands of marchers participated in the parade itself, which had 93 floats, 500 motorcycles, veterans from the most recent Iraq and Afghanistan wars, the 1991 invasion of Iraq, and Vietnam, as well as family members, high school bands and the hometown Budweiser Clydesdales.

Along the parade route, the crowd clapped and cheered, standing eight or more deep in spots, shouting “Welcome home,” “Thank you” and “We love you.”

About 4,500 U.S. troops were killed in Iraq, and the occupation was marred by the Abu Ghraib prison scandal and the killing of civilians by troops or private security contractors.

Thousands of Iraqi troops also died in the war as did thousands of Iraqi security forces in the chaotic years following the invasion, along with more than 100,000 civilians.

Many of the spectators on Saturday were Vietnam vets, including James Beaumont, 61, of St. Louis, who said he would have liked to have had a parade when he returned home.

“A parade would have been nice but right now I’m a Vietnam vet who needs a job,” he said. “The VA ( U.S. Veterans Administration) is no good and I’m living with my damn uncle until I can get on Social Security.”

Richard Pfeifer, 62, of Ballwin, Missouri, said that while not a veteran, he wanted to show his appreciation of the Iraq War vets.

“I’m very proud of what we have accomplished and I know how hard it was for the Vietnam vets,” he said.

The ceremonies began Friday night at the Soldiers’ Memorial near the Gateway Arch. There, volunteers read through the cold night the names of more than 6,000 U.S. service men and women killed in the wars since the September 11 attacks.

Supporters of the Iraq invasion cited in part a threat that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction. But none were recovered, leading to increasing criticism of the war.

Indoor Water Fountains Maintenance For Your Home

Adding indoor water fountains to your home or office can help give your space a wonderful aesthetic and soothing atmosphere. However, there are some maintenance considerations you have to make when using indoor fountains or tabletop fountains.
Cleaning the Fountain
Even though the indoor fountains are constantly running water, there is a tendency to get slime occasionally. There are several ways to go about cleaning your fountain from algae and bacteria.
1. Turn your fountain off and dump out the water. (Make sure your fountain is unplugged first.)
2. Scrub the surface of the fountain with a toothbrush and soap.
3. Scrub the surface again, but with a wet sponge this time to get rid of soapy deposits.
4. Refill the fountain with distilled or boiled water to prevent mineral build up.
You should perform this monthly.
Protecting Your Floor
Since you’re dealing with water, you should be careful to protect your floor in case of accidental leakage (which will most likely occur). Tabletop fountains and indoor waterfalls can potentially make a huge mess and cause damage to hardwood floors if proper precautions aren’t taken. There are several ways to protect your floor. These include:
• Using a plastic mat
• Placing the fountain on carpeting
• Using a rubber pad on the floor
• Having a cotton cloth underneath the fountain
While none of these will absolutely protect your floor, they will prevent minor damage from becoming major.
There are other types of maintenance you should perform for indoor water fountains. If you’d like to learn more, or if you are interested in installing soothing tabletop fountains in your living space, you can check online for the huge selection of natural looking indoor fountain options or indoor waterfalls to make your home feel like a garden.

Demi Moore “smoked something” before convulsions: 911 tape

(Reuters) – Actress Demi Moore suffered convulsions and seemed only semi-conscious after smoking an undisclosed substance before being rushed to hospital earlier this week, according to the tape of a medical emergency call released on Friday.

“She smoked something, it’s not marijuana but it is similar to incense. She seems to be having convulsions of some sort,” a female friend of Moore told emergency services when calling for an ambulance on Monday.

“She has been having some issues. I don’t know what she has been taking,” another woman at Moore’s house that night told the 911 dispatcher. Moore was also described as “burning up”, unable to speak and semi-conscious before help arrived at her Beverly Hills mansion.

The tape shed the first official light on the emergency that sent recently-separated Moore to the hospital, and later to seek treatment for what her spokeswoman has described only as “exhaustion”.

Los Angeles officials said portions of the tape recording had been edited for privacy and to remove references to specific substances.

Celebrity website TMZ.com has reported that one of the friends at Moore’s home on Monday told paramedics the actress had been inhaling nitrous oxide — a substance also known as whip-its or poppers that gives users a high by briefly depriving the body of oxygen. The substance was not mentioned on the version of the tape recording released to the media.

The “Ghost” and “G.I. Jane” actress, 49, filed for divorce from husband Ashton Kutcher, 33, in November after the “Two and a Half Men Star” had a widely publicized fling with another woman.

Her gaunt appearance in paparazzi photos over the last few months has raised alarm bells in the celebrity media.

Her spokeswoman said on Tuesday Moore had decided to seek professional treatment for “exhaustion and (to) improve her overall health” because of stress. Moore’s representatives have declined to give any details or comment further on her problems.

Moore and Kutcher were married for six years and their 16-year age gap made them the subject of constant media fascination.

Kutcher returned to Los Angeles from Brazil on Thursday, refusing to comment to the media about Moore.

Finding affordable car insurance may not be as tricky as you think.

When you are in the market to purchase new auto insurance, there are a few tricks of the trade that you should use to insure that you save as much money as you can.
1. First, compare auto insurance quotes. This cannot be stressed enough. The more quotes you have, the more options you have. While many car insurance companies take similar things into consideration, they will weigh them differently. So maybe your accumulated speeding tickets will cause a major increase in one company, while a different company won’t weigh them as heavily.
2. Second, make sure you have a good credit rating. It may seem bizarre that your credit rating has anything to do with your car insurance but people with better credit ratings generally pay their insurance bills on time.
3. Third, limit your time on the road and your average yearly mileage. The more time you spend on the road, the more likely you are to get in a car accident. While there are things you can’t avoid like going to work every day, try to cluster errands together, or carpool when possible. This can dramatically affect your insurance rates.
4. Lastly, invest in other protective matters. When you do things like take a defensive driving course or install a security system in your car, insurance companies will understand that you are trying to be the best insured person possible and they will usually give you discounts on your car insurance rates because of this. Anything that makes it look like you are a better driver will save you money in the long run.
When shopping around for car insurance, remember that the companies are investing in you as much as you invest in them. Presenting yourself as a responsible driver will not only save you money, but will make car insurance shopping a little more enjoyable for you as well.

Four-year-old U.S. boy pulls out marijuana at school

(Reuters) – A four-year-old U.S. boy who announced to his teacher at school snack time that he wanted to share pulled nine bags of marijuana out of his jacket pocket, police said on Wednesday.

Police in Meriden, Connecticut were called to Hanover Elementary School Tuesday afternoon after the young special needs student displayed the drugs, authorities said.

Meriden police said the nine individually wrapped bags of marijuana appeared prepared for sale.

Hanover Elementary School principal Miguel Cardona called it an “extremely unfortunate” and “isolated” incident that was not witnessed by any other students.

“What’s so disheartening is this is really an adult issue and problem and adult behavior put a student at risk,” Meriden schools superintendent Mark Benigni told Reuters.

“This student had no idea what he brought to school or what the substance was,” he added.

Authorities are not releasing the names of the student or parents and police said there is a possibility for arrests pending the outcome of the investigation.

The Department of Children and Families is also looking into the incident.

Since the free FICO credit score is the credit score used most commonly by creditors, it will be the most helpful to you in figuring out your actual credit score.

One way is by using a free FICO estimator, which you can find on the official FICO website. The only problem with the free FICO estimator is that it isn’t as accurate as an actual credit score and might show that you have a good credit score even if you don’t. Your credit scores or credit reports are based on a point system, and the free FICO score estimator can be off by as much as 100 points. However, it is free and will give you a fairly good idea of your credit scoring in a few easy steps.

One way to get a free FICO score is by being declined for credit. If you apply for a loan to buy a new car and are turned down, the lender is required by law to show you any credit report that was used to make the decision. Since the majority of all creditors use the FICO score, it’s a pretty good bet that you’ll be able to use the situation to your advantage and get a free FICO score.

Crosby suffered neck injury as well as concussion

(Reuters) – Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has sustained a serious neck injury as well a concussion, the National Hockey League team said on Saturday.

Crosby, who has been sidelined since early December after a relapse of concussion like symptoms, was recently examined by neurological spine specialist Dr. Robert Bray in Los Angeles where tests revealed the neck injury.

Crosby’s agent Pat Brisson, told CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada that the Canadian may have fractured two vertebrae when he was hit by Boston Bruins David Krejci on December 5.

“The diagnosis of Dr. Robert S. Bray, a neurological spine specialist based in Los Angeles, is that Sidney Crosby had suffered a neck injury in addition to a concussion,” the team said in a statement. “Dr. Bray reports that the neck injury is fully healed.

“Those findings will be evaluated by independent specialists over the next few days.

“The most important goal all along has been Sidney’s return to full health, and we are encouraged that progress continues to be made.”

Crosby, the NHL’s most popular player and biggest name, missed the final 41 games of last season and the first 20 games this season before making his long awaited return in November.

He scored 12 points in eight games but began experiencing concussion symptoms again in early December and has not played since December 5.

“Hopefully we’ll see next week as to where he is and we’ll get the reports from California and compare notes to what’s been done so far,” Penguins general manager Ray Shero told reporters.

“We want to continue to look to see how we can get this under control and manageable so he can return to play.”

Banners can be used at Trade Shows and Convention

A well-placed, well-designed banner can be the perfect touch to any event: church gatherings, trade shows, conventions, special events, you name it. Banners are a classic way to get your message out to the world, even if the message is as simple as “Welcome Home.”

Banners are ideal for:

Trade Shows and Conventions-

Trade shows and conventions are full of advertisements, all competing for attention. If you’re looking to by a banners or poster, you should make sure that your poster is not only attention grabbing, but well made as well. Use full color banners to catch people’s eye, and keep their attention by using language and images that appeal to them.

Family Gatherings-

Whether it’s a family reunion, a wedding, or a homecoming, a sign or banner can add a little something special to any number of gatherings. Remember to keep these banners fun and light-hearted, and try to incorporate your group’s personality into the design as much as your can. It’s also important to keep your banner appropriate. For instance, if you’re making a banner for a wedding reception, stick to more classic colors, and steer clear of brash designs that will raw attention away from the event.

Advertising-

Banners can be the perfect advertising tool. They’re large, user-friendly, and can giver your potential customers all the information they need in just one glance. Banners are also much less expensive than other forms of advertising, and can last for years!

The more thought you put into your banner, the better it will turn out. Try to think of your sign or banner as your chance to make the perfect first impression. Use quality materials and use a company with a good reputation. The better the banner, the better you’ll be able to get your message across to your audience.

Why Choosing the Right Reputation management Is Essential

Using a good reputation management company is a great way to boost your business and generate some positive buzz about your company online. However, choosing the wrong company can be dangerous to your reputation and your profits. Here are a few reasons why it’s essential to choose the right reputation management company.

1. If you go with the wrong company, you’ll waste money

One of the reasons you’re probably thinking of using a reputation management online company is because you want to improve your profits. If you go with a company that doesn’t do anything, you’ll be wasting your time and your money. A good way to avoid this is to look at a company’s previous work.

2. A bad online reputation management company can cause negative buzz to spiral out of control

You’ve all probably heard about the terrible third-party PR representative who was hired to manage a company’s rep, but actually hurt it more than anyone thought possible. If you hire a reputation management firm who employs hotheads or individuals who have a problem dealing with customers in a patient way, you can nearly irreparable harm to your company. If that negative service goes viral on blogs or social media, there’s almost no going back. You’re stuck, and your company will take the blame for hiring the wrong management service.

3.  An investment into a good reputation management service is an investment into your company’s future

Like any of the costs you pay while you’re trying to grow your business, an investment into a good reputation management company is going to pay off in the long term. Just like how wise businesses pay a little more to build their websites right the first time, you’ll be wise to invest in a good rep management service.

Reputation management is costly, but it can be a great benefit, too. You can find experts who will help you protect your name through monitoring and good reputation management by looking around online.

Bankers resist regulatory restraint on bonuses

(Reuters) – Budding bankers expecting the bumper bonuses of years gone by will have to think again, with only the top performers likely to be paid top dollar.

Business leaders and bankers at the annual Davos forum were largely dismissive of attempts to cap or restrict compensation in the financial services industry through regulation.

But they said a combination of public anger, tighter scrutiny from watchdogs, tougher performance measures and a structural fall in profitability in banking in the post-crisis world would curb the excesses of the past.

“Compared to four years ago its night and day, partially because the regulators are insisting on it…and partly because the supervisory board of banks have said we have got to balance the reward of our senior team with the reward of our long-term shareholders. And part of it is the business model has changed,” a senior investment banker at a major Wall Street firm said.

Part nationalized Royal Bank of Scotland, for example, said on Saturday that Chairman Philip Hampton would not pick up a share-based bonus, amid a backdrop of public anger over a 1 million ($1.6 million) stock bonus for its chief executive.

Compensation consultants estimate bonuses for 2011 fell by about 30 percent in 2011, with payouts dropping across major banks such as Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.

Year-end bonuses at Barclays Plc’s investment bank are expected to be down about 30 percent this year, on average, a source familiar with the matter said on Thursday.

“Of course bonuses are falling, so is profitability,” a senior European banker told Reuters on the sidelines of the conference on Saturday, following a meeting on the future of financial services involving top bankers and regulators.

SHAREHOLDER SILENCE

Several business leaders, speaking candidly during closed meetings, pointed to growing social inequality and said there was a need for more effective tax collection from the best paid.

And while critical of regulatory efforts to cap executive remuneration, some blamed overly generous compensation packages on a lack of shareholder engagement in the issue.

“It should be up to the boards, not the regulators. Where are the shareholders of these banks?” the head of one investment bank told Reuters. Like others who spoke about the issue, he declined to be named.

A speaker on a panel on compensation at the World Economic Forum meeting in the Swiss Alps said: “Institutional investors are not that interested because the amount of money that is involved is totally immaterial.”

When asked for a show of hands on whether executive compensation should be regulated, nobody in the audience of nearly 100 people raised their hand.

The investment banking head said part of the problem was that many bankers had come to believe that they alone were responsible for the profits generated in their business, rather than the role which they fulfilled.

“It’s the seat, not the individual. I resent some 30-something smart Alec being paid $3 million,” he said.

For one hedge fund manager, the answer is for bankers’ bonuses to be deferred for three years. This would allow the effects of the individual’s actions to be measured properly over the course of an economic cycle.

So-called deferrals as a component of the compensation mix for people working in the financial services industry already is increasing, Gary Parr, vice chairman of investment banking group Lazard Ltd, told Reuters.

Parr said mechanisms to recoup bonuses from bankers if their bets or advice turned sour further down the road were sensible.

“Clawbacks are a rational part of the compensation structure for companies that have big risk portfolios,” he said.

One regulatory official said a combination of limiting the cash component of bonuses and imposing a deferral were two ways of weaning banks off a short-term bonus culture. But the rules on remuneration needed to be radically simplified, he added.

PAY FOR PERFORMANCE

Howard Lutnick, chief executive of Cantor Fitzgerald LP and BGC Partners Inc, said cutbacks at bigger banks provided an opportunity for mid-tier investment banks like his to hire talented individuals. Lutnick said he planned to hire up to 500 people this year.

“If I have a salesman who makes a sale on a very sophisticated product (and) you don’t pay (him) his fair share he won’t make the sale,” Lutnick said, adding that this level had historically been around 50 percent.

Lutnick said that 2012 would not be representative of a “new reality,” adding that once markets improved, compensation to bank staff would bounce back.

Other bankers said the change was likely deeper and more permanent than similar periods before.

“In a world where return on equity is more difficult because you have higher capital requirements and lending produces fewer returns because you have lower interest rates, compensation has to follow,” the U.S. investment banker said.

“Now, I do believe that for the bankers, this is not an easy transition for them,” the banker said. “But I am convinced the companies understand this. Now they just have to build it into their institutional culture.”

What you should know before you get a cat or dog

You are thinking about buying a pet. You have the food and water dishes, toys, grooming products, collar, leash, and a good supply of pet food. But what now? Do you want to get your pet a little something extra but don’t know what you want? Here is a guide to a few extra things that you could get your dog or cat.

One of the first things you should consider getting your pet, especially a dog, is a pet bed. Dogs and cats sleep much more than humans do throughout the day, usually around 16 hours. And while a cat may sleep anywhere, unless you want your dog sleeping on your bed or a couch in your home, you should consider getting them a comfortable bed. Cats usually appreciate a bed, but will sleep anywhere they can curl up.

If you have a cat, you should consider getting them a scratching post. Cats love to stretch out and scratch, and most people don’t want the cat to be attacking their sofa arm, so a scratching post is the next best thing. If you want to really spoil your cat, consider a multi-level jungle gym with scratching posts.  If you look online, you can always find a greater variety, and get them for a lower price than your local pet supply store. You will also be able to find discounted if not free shipping.

If you have a small dog, you might want to consider indoor potty pads. These are similar to diapers in the sense that they absorb urine and other liquid, but you lay them on a floor almost like a litter box. You will not need to constantly be taking your pet outside.

So if you are looking to get a few things above and beyond the absolute basics for your pets, you can consider the above list. If you want to save money, try online pet supply shops or discounted pet supply shops for a greater variety in pet supplies and lower prices.

Syria violence kills 37, U.N. Security Council to meet

(Reuters) – Security forces killed 37 people in Syria on Friday, activists and residents said, as people in Homs mourned 14 members of a family they said were slain by militiamen in one of the worst sectarian attacks in a revolt against President Bashar al-Assad.

The U.N. Security Council was to meet later in the day to discuss Syria before a possible vote next week on a new Western-Arab draft resolution aimed at halting 10 months of bloodshed.

Russia, which joined China in vetoing a previous Western draft resolution in October and which has since promoted its own draft, said the Western-Arab version was unacceptable and vowed to block any text calling for Assad’s resignation.

There was no let-up in violence on Friday, when anti-Assad protests again erupted after weekly Muslim prayers.

Tank and mortar fire killed 15 people in Hama, a resident said, on the fourth day of an army assault on rebellious districts of the city, where Assad’s father crushed an armed Islamist uprising in 1982, killing many thousands.

The opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported 22 people killed elsewhere in Syria, including 12 when security forces fired on a funeral march in the southern town of Nowa, five in the normally peaceful city of Aleppo, and four in Homs.

Machinegun fire wounded five people in the Qusour district of Homs, one activist there said, adding that the city was calmer than it was at the height of Thursday’s violence, when 16 people were also killed by mortar fire from security forces.

The state news agency SANA said “terrorists” killed a security man in Homs on Friday and a bomb killed a child and wounded several civilians and security personnel in the Damascus district of Midan.

SANA also said a bomb wounded three civilians and three security men in the northeastern town of Albukamal and that a suicide bomber had wounded two security men at a checkpoint in the northwestern province of Idlib.

Arab League observers headed for the Damascus suburb of Douma, where government troops battled rebel fighters the previous day as the struggle to topple Assad rumbled close to the Syrian capital.

TRANSITION PLAN

The Arab League has demanded that the Syrian leader step down as part of a transition to democracy, a call rejected by Damascus. The government says it is fighting foreign-backed armed “terrorists” who have killed 2,000 soldiers and police.

“Any decision about a future political settlement in Syria must be made during the political process without … preliminary conditions,” Interfax news agency quoted Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov as saying.

He stopped short of saying Moscow would veto a Western-Arab draft if the call for Assad to hand over power was not removed.

The text calls for a “political transition,” but not for United Nations sanctions against Assad’s government, which Moscow, an old ally and arms supplier of Syria, opposes.

Russia and Iran are among Syria’s few remaining allies.

In another sign of Assad’s isolation, Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal has effectively abandoned his headquarters in Damascus, diplomatic and intelligence sources said.

“He’s not going back to Syria,” a regional intelligence source said of Meshaal, who has long been based in the Syrian capital. He heads the Palestinian Islamist group which rules Gaza and is an armed offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Analysts say Meshaal was embarrassed by Assad’s crackdown, in which more than 5,000 people have been killed, many of them Sunni Muslim sympathisers of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Homs, a mostly Sunni city with minority Alawite enclaves, has become a battleground since protests against Assad began in March, inspired by pro-democracy revolts elsewhere in the Arab world. Armed rebels have joined the fray in recent months.

GRISLY FOOTAGE

Residents and activists said militiamen from Assad’s Alawite sect had shot or hacked to death 14 members of the Sunni Bahader family in Homs’s Karm al-Zaitoun district on Thursday, including eight children, aged eight months to nine years old.

YouTube video footage taken by activists, which could not be verified, showed the bodies of five children with wounds to the head and neck, three women and a man in a house.

There was no comment from Syrian authorities, which enforce tight restrictions on independent media.

At least 384 children have been killed since the uprising began in March and a similar number have been jailed, the U.N. Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said on Friday.

The British-based Observatory said 43 civilians were killed on Thursday, including 33 in Homs, of whom nine were children.

Hamza, an activist in Homs, said the militiamen who attacked the Sunni family were avenging deaths inflicted on their ranks by army defectors loosely grouped in the rebel Free Syrian Army.

Tit-for-tat sectarian killings began in Homs four months ago. Assad’s Alawite sect, an offshoot of Shi’ite Islam, has dominated the political and security apparatus in Syria, a mostly Sunni nation of 23 million, for five decades.

“The Assads are the dirtiest of families,” shouted crowds in Deir Balba, on the edge of Homs, according to a YouTube clip that showed people waving pre-Baath party Syrian flags.

In the city’s Bab Amro district, demonstrators carried the body of a youth who had been shot in the head. “Bashar, your mother will bury you,” they chanted, YouTube footage showed.

It was not possible to verify the footage, which anti-Assad campaigners had posted on the Internet.

The opposition Local Coordination Committees said security forces had fired on an anti-Assad protest by refugees from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights who live in Thiabieh near Damascus. It said several protesters were wounded.

Activists in the Damascus suburb of Irbin said 15,000 people had turned out to demonstrate against Assad.

Several thousand also gathered in the rain in the ancient, eastern desert town of Palmyra, clapping to anti-Assad anthems. “Bashar, God is greater (than you)!” they sang.

Qualifying for a Faxless payday loan

Qualifying for a Faxless payday loan

When you think of loans, you probably think of a long, drawn-out process of proving your good credit and begging a bank rep to give you the money you need for your new house or car. It can be an embarrassing experience, especially if you don’t have the best credit. The good news is that a faxless payday loan is very easy to apply for and receive, and you don’t even have to have good credit to receive one! Here’s all you need to qualify for faxless payday loans.

United States Citizenship

The first requirement for receiving a cash advance loan is that you must be a U.S. citizen. While this unfortunately excludes some people who want to apply for a loan, this is simply how it is.

Age

The next requirement is that you must be 18 years of age or older to apply for an instant payday loan. This is to prevent children from taking out loans they may not be able to pay back.

Bank Account

You’ll also need a United States bank account with direct deposit set up so you can electronically receive your loan. One of the best things about getting a cash loan online is that you no longer have to wait for a check in the mail—you simply check your bank account.

Income

The only requirement for receiving a cash advance loan is that you make at least $1000 per month. That’s it! You don’t need a big down payment, you don’t need to own any property, and you don’t need to have a huge income to qualify.

As you can see, qualifying for a faxless payday loan is a simple, fast process—much easier than fax payday loans. You do need to make sure you plan your finances carefully when you take out a loan. It’s not simply free money. If you are interested in receiving a no credit check cash loan for whatever reason, even if you have bad credit, you can apply for one online.

Pregnancy Help Is Available To Women Who Need It

How a mother’s body changes and develops week by week during her pregnancy is something that a pregnancy week by week calendar can help her to find out. If you are pregnant, an online pregnancy calendar is a useful tool to help you understand the changes that your body is going through. A week by week pregnancy guide can show you what changes are normal and to be expected in your body as fetal development occurs.

During the first twelve weeks of pregnancy, it is typical to experience fatigue as your body adjusts to the new life growing inside of it. As you get past your 1st trimester and enter the 2nd trimester, weeks 13-24, you may begin to notice aches in your joints, a decrease in morning sickness, and possibly increased acne. Your online pregnancy week by week guide will let you know when your blood volume will begin to increase, your internal organs move upward, and your areolas begin to darken.

Without a week by week pregnancy calendar to help you, it can be easy to wonder if the things you’re feeling and the changes you’re noticing in your body are normal. With the pregnancy week by week guide you can search what your body is doing and check to see if what you’re experiencing is normal or similar to the average norm.

You can use the available tools in the pregnancy week by week guide to see images of the human body; where your organs are shifting, where your uterus is expanding, how your belly will begin to extend, etc. Other highly important and effect tools available with a week by week pregnancy calendar are the chance to keep track of your diet and make sure that your body is getting the nutrients it needs during fetal development.

Types of Dumpsters

When you’re shopping around for a waste management dumpster, you need to know what kind of receptacle you need for your junk removal. Most dumpster rental service companies have many different types of dumpsters available depending on your needs. This can be intimidating if you’re not too familiar with the type of job you’re doing. Fortunately, there’s help. Here is some info to assist you in choosing the right kind of dumpster for your next affordable dumpster rental.
Front Loader Dumpsters
A very popular kind of dumpster, front loader dumpsters are the kind you usually see at apartment complexes or buildings. The junk in these types is lifted and dumped into a garbage truck. The size for these types of dumpsters ranges from 2 cubic yards to 8 cubic yards.
Read Loader Dumpsters
Very similar to front loader dumpsters, the rear loader variety is carried to and from the dump site instead of just having its contents emptied into a larger truck. They also range from 2 cubic yards to 8 cubic yards in capacity, and are a popular choice for small jobs.
Roll Off Dumpsters
If you have worked on a construction site or at a big job, you’ve seen one of these massive roll off dumpsters. While they don’t have the lowest dumpster rental cost, they do have the most capacity. If you are doing a big job where you are generating a lot of trash and need serious waste management, consider these. They can be as large as 40 cubic yards, meaning you’ll have plenty of room to fit your waste.
Dumpster rental prices vary by company, so shopping around is important to get the best dumpster rental prices. Don’t be afraid to call someone in a junk removal or waste management dumpster company and see if they can swing you a deal.

Iran says sanctions to fail, repeats Hormuz threat

(Reuters) – Iranian politicians said on Tuesday they expected the European Union to backtrack on its oil embargo and repeated a threat to close the vital Strait of Hormuz shipping lane if the West succeeds in preventing Tehran from exporting crude.

“The West’s ineffective sanctions against the Islamic state are not a threat to us. They are opportunities and have already brought lots of benefits to the country,” Intelligence Minister Heydar Moslehi told the official IRNA news agency.

Speaking a day after the EU slapped a ban on Iranian oil – to take full effect within six months – in a move to press Tehran into curbing its contested nuclear program and engage in negotiations with six world powers, the tone in the Islamic Republic was defiant, even skeptical.

“The global economic situation is not one in which a country can be destroyed by imposing sanctions,” Moslehi said, repeating Iran’s stance that with the EU in economic and monetary crisis, it needs Iran’s oil more than Iran needs its business.

A spokesman for the oil ministry said Iran had had plenty of time to prepare for the sanctions and would find alternative customers for the 18 percent of its exports that up to now have gone to the 27-nation European bloc.

“The first phase of this (sanctions action) is propaganda, only then it will enter the implementation phase. That is why they put in this six months period, to study the market,” Alireza Nikzad Rahbar said, predicting the embargo could be rescinded before it takes force completely.

“This market will harm them because oil is getting more expensive and when oil gets more expensive it will harm the people of Europe,” state TV quoted him as saying. “We hope that in these six months they will choose the right path.”

The embargo will not kick in completely until July 1 because the bloc’s foreign ministers who agreed the ban at a meeting in Brussels were anxious not to penalize the ailing economies of Greece, Italy and others to whom Iran is a major oil supplier.

The strategy will be reviewed in May to see if it should proceed.

Iran, which denies international suspicions that it is trying to design atomic bombs behind the facade of a declared civilian atomic energy program, has scoffed at efforts to bar its oil exports as Asia lines up to buy what Europe rejects.

“RECKLESS”

Iran’s foreign ministry summoned the Danish ambassador on Tuesday to complain about the EU’s “illogical decision,” accusing Europe of doing the bidding of the United States.

“Some elements in the European Union, following America’s policies, are seeking to create tension in relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Ashghar Khaji told Ambassador Anders Christian Hougaard.

“Europe should be responsible for the consequences of these reckless decisions,” he said, according to IRNA.

Emad Hosseini, spokesman for parliament’s energy committee, said that if Iran encountered any problem selling its oil, it would store it.

“If we don’t export our oil to Europe, our oil will be saved and storage of oil will not harm us but we will have rich storage of oil,” he told the semi-official Fars news agency, adding Iran retained its threat to shut the Gulf to shipping.

“Closing the Strait of Hormuz is one of the country’s strategies against the West’s threats, especially an oil embargo,” he said.

The United States, which sailed an aircraft carrier through the strait into the Gulf accompanied by British and French warships on Sunday, has said it would not tolerate the closure of the world’s most important oil shipping gateway.

Fitch Ratings issued an assessment of the embargo’s market impact saying it would likely cause an oil price increase.

“However, prices may not necessarily increase markedly from current levels as some of the risks related to the EU ban on Iranian oil appear factored in already,” it said.

The embargo decision had no discernible impact on oil prices as it was a move that had been flagged well in advance and the threat to close Hormuz seemed remote. Brent crude down slightly at $110 per barrel on Tuesday.

U.S. President Barack Obama said on Monday that the EU sanctions underlined the strength of the international community’s commitment to “addressing the serious threat” presented by Iran’s nuclear program.

“The United States will continue to impose new sanctions to increase the pressure on Iran,” he said in a statement.

Washington applied its own sanctions to Iran’s oil trade and central bank on December 31 and on Monday extended them to the third largest Iranian bank, state-owned Bank Tejarat, and a Belarus-based affiliate for allegedly helping Tehran’s nuclear advance.

The EU sanctions were also welcomed by Israel, which has warned it might attack Iran if sanctions do not deflect Tehran from a course that some analysts say could potentially give Iran the means to build a nuclear bomb next year.

Advantages of Electronic cigarette Smoking

Electronic cigarettes are electric devices that vaporize a small amount of liquid inside the cartridge instead of burning tobacco. Considered by many to be the best tobacco alternative, a lot of people have made the switch from tobacco smoking to using an electric cigarette. There’s a reason for this: electronic cigarette smoking has many advantages.

No Smoke

One of the big reasons people started switching to e-cig smoking is anti-smoking laws. Fortunately, electronic cigarettes don’t produce any smoke, so you can use them in restaurants, in public, around kids, and more places where traditional smoking has been banned.

Safe to Use

Another benefit of using electronic cigarettes when compared to tobacco ones is that the electronic cigarette does not actually burn. This makes it safe to store in your pocket immediately after use, and if you drop it, you don’t have to worry about starting any fires.

Lower Using Cost

While the price of an electronic cigarette starter kit is more than the start-up cost of a pack of cigarettes, over time the electronic version is much less expensive. This is because the only cost comes from the liquid which is used to refill the cigarette.

Possibly Healthier

Though these claims have not been evaluated by the FDA, many smokers say e-cigs are a healthier alternative to traditional tobacco. This is because there are fewer chemicals in the e-juice and no known carcinogens. Compare this to normal cigarettes which have over 4,000 chemicals! However, electric cigarettes do contain nicotine, so they are still addictive.

There are other benefits to using electronic cigarettes, but there are downsides, too. You should research those before jumping on board with a switch. If you are interested in making the switch, you can look at e-cigarette reviews and purchase one of the several electronic cigarette starter kits available.

If You Are Thinking About Entering Day Trading – Consider Penny Stocks

Are you looking to dabble in the stock market but don’t have a lot of money, or aren’t willing to take a huge risk? Penny stocks are an excellent option for those who are just getting started in the stock game. What are penny stocks you ask? Penny stocks are stocks that sell for under a dollar per share, although different definitions claim that penny stocks are anything under $3 or $5 a share. Penny stocks are also called cent stocks, penny shares, or micro cap stocks.

One of the best things about penny stocks is the price. Penny stocks are cheap. You can buy literarily hundreds of stocks for next to nothing. If your stocks go up, you can make quite a bit of money. Penny stocks let almost anyone that wants to get his hand into the stock market. The other nice thing about the low cost of cent stocks is if you do lose money, you probably didn’t lose that much. You probably lose more due to inflation. Penny stocks allow you to get good practice on the stock market.

There is some negative hype about penny stocks as well.  There are four factors that should be considered before buying any sort of penny stock.  First, there are no minimum standards. The company is under no obligation to maintain a minimum standard to stay on the stock exchange.  Second, there is very little public information which makes it difficult to make an informed decision. Third is the lack of liquidity. You may find it difficult to sell a stock when you want to. And finally, lack of history. Once again this prevents a buyer from making an informed decision.

You can avoid most of these traps by using a respected stock broker or by using the aid of a company that deals with penny stocks on a regular basis. This ensures that you will be prepared when buying your penny stocks.

FBI seeks possible burial site of missing teacher

(Reuters) – The FBI on Sunday asked landowners in parts of Montana and North Dakota to check for possible burial sites in a search for a missing teacher and authorities identified two men they are holding in connection with her disappearance.

Lester Vann Waters, 47, and Michael Keith Spell, 22, of Parachute, Colorado, were detained after a tip to a hotline set up by authorities, police said. They are charged with aggravated kidnapping.

The men were being held in a North Dakota county jail about 45 minutes from Sidney, Montana, where high school math instructor Sherry Arnold disappeared more than a week ago.

The FBI on Sunday said in a statement that Arnold may be dead but her body has not been recovered.

The FBI asked landowners in the northeastern corner of Montana and in three rural counties of northwestern North Dakota to report disturbed soil along tree rows — or shelter belts — because Arnold “may be buried in a shelter belt that contains mature or rotted trees,” according to the statement.

Arnold, 43, was last seen on January 7 setting off for a predawn run. Her husband reported her missing when she did not return home.

Searchers found one of her running shoes on the outskirts of Sidney, which has undergone rapid growth amid a regional oil and gas boom.

Arnold’s husband, Gary Arnold, expressed gratitude to those who helped him and his family, thanking them “for the love they showed us.”

He told Reuters, “While this did not turn out the way we all had hoped, at least we are moving toward a resolution and an answer.”

Waters and Spell will be extradited to Montana from the Williams County Law Enforcement Center, where they were being held, Williams County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Thompson said.

Bret Smelser, the mayor of Sidney, a town of 5,000 people on the upper Missouri River, said stepped-up oil and gas production from hydraulic fracturing has brought more people and economic activity to the community, as well as crime.

Firearms sales and permits to carry concealed handguns were on the rise in the aftermath of Arnold’s suspected abduction, Smelser said.

“Before this, we always presumed we were safe and felt secure,” he said.

The FBI said the search for Arnold’s remains centers on far northeastern Montana near Sidney and Williams, McKenzie and Mountrail counties in North Dakota.

FBI spokeswoman Deborah Bertram said investigators are not seeking volunteers for a search and cautioned property owners inspecting shelter belts “not to put themselves at risk.”

Aggravated kidnapping is a capital offense under Montana and federal laws.
